Peaceful Holiday Cottage in the heart of Suffolk

Sleeps 6 to 8 in 3/4 bedrooms, family friendly, dogs welcome, non-smoking.

Cocketts is a delightful 16th century listed farmhouse found at the end of a no-through road in the heart of Suffolk.  Cocketts sleep 6 adults, with the option of sleeping up to 9. Built by one of the early Quakers, Cocketts is a peaceful and well-equipped retreat with everything you need, including WiFi and a Type-2 7kW eV charging point. It is cosy in the winter, with a log burning stove in the inglenook fireplace; and in the summer it is a delight. It's surrounded by farmland and sits in about an acre of its own garden.  If you can drag yourself out of the house you can visit the owners' goats and chickens before exploring all that East Anglia has to offer.

It has comfortable sitting room, a kitchen with farmhouse table for 8, high quality white bed linens, luxurious large bath towels, an attic den with a games console and games and toys for all ages.  In the outhouse you'll find a free-to-play pub style pool table and a dartboard.

Cocketts has 1 kingsize bedroom, one twin bedroom; and one room that can be made up as either a twin or a king size. In addition, the playroom can sleep three more on two futons, one a double and one a single. This increases the capacity to nine (not including younger ones who may sleep in travel cots).

One of the things that makes Cocketts special is the garden.  There is an enclosed 'safe' grassed area by the house that helps contain dogs and small children; it's also where you'll find the west facing patio with teak garden table for evening drinks, or meals if the weather is generous.  It's also where you'll find a wooden playhouse with garden toys for little ones.

Leaving the enclosed garden you enter a larger grassed where we know guests enjoy playing football, badminton or frisbee.  We had some visitors who brought a croquet set: "interesting contours" they said. Wandering off the grass you enter the old orchard which, apart from apple, plum, walnut and quince trees has a tree swing and a picnic table that provide opportunities for further adventure or relaxation.

The garden is visited by a wide variety of wildlife, and in season provides elderflower/berries, apples, pears, plums, sloes, quince, walnuts and damsons. There are walks from the door, perfect if you are bringing the dog, and it is easy and flat for cycling. Cocketts is easy to get to and is well placed for exploring the many local picturesque villages, the Suffolk heritage coast, Constable Country, as well as Norwich, Cambridge and Bury St Edmunds. Suffolk has a wealth of farmers' markets, pubs and restaurants that pride themselves on good local produce that will keep you well fed. There are plenty of places of interest to visit, and we try and keep the house stocked with up to date books, maps and information to help you make the most of your stay.

We (the owners) live next door, and are happy to give advice or help out in any way we can. We look forward to welcoming you to Cocketts.  We think it offers something for everyone.
